In today’s world mobile is ubiquitous. And such presence comes not just from applications that are leveraged on a smart phone but the cross section of the mobile technology ecosystem including IoT, wearables, virtual/augmented/mixed reality apps, amongst others. Also the wide range of mobile applications, platforms and services that are being engineered has made mobile testing services an area of high demand.
For the testing fraternity that addresses the needs of such diverse quality scenarios for the mobile space, mobile testing as a service has become inevitable. This is a phenomenon that could take in multiple meanings and implementation contexts. It could be having a pool of mobile testers including some from the crowd sourced community too, a pool of mobile devices, a set of mobile testing practices to leverage across technologies, mobile testing tools, a priority pipeline to pick up mobile testing tasks as and when they come in, specific SME identification for varied mobile tasks etc. This almost becomes like a continuous delivery pipeline for mobile testing services, in the name of mobile testing as a service or on demand mobile testing services. This may sound simple but will involve a lot of complexities in getting this engine smooth especially given that the mobile engineering ecosystem is very dynamic. Obviously this needs a clear moderator or an anchor who understands the subtleties of this space and can keep the service pipeline full, challenging and exciting for both testers and in delivering results to clients and end users.
There is no “one size fits all” strategy for building this ecosystem – it is certainly a research driven process but the first step is the cognizance of the need for such an on demand mobile testing service pipeline – we have been able to do this for our clients in the last few years now and will be happy to discuss more, if you need help in this area.
